The Addiction
My reliance on technology is definitely something that I think about and worry about. Not only is technology my main source of getting information but, also communication entertainment. Whether it is using Twitter to get the most recent information and news or searching something on the internet, I feel like I am always on my phone or computer when needing information. The easiest way to communicate this day is through text or snap chat. With how society is today people are constantly chatting and talking to each other, whether it's through pictures, messages, or calls. All these form of communication add up to more screen time and more dependence. Often people use their phones as a place to hide during an awkward situation or to avoid in-person communication. This can be a very bad habit to get into and I myself have done this in times. My dependence on checking my phone is also something that worries me. I am always checking to see who texted or called. When my phone is not around me, the thoughts of where it is and who reached out to me enter my mind.
I think the best way to break the reliance on technology for myself is implementing other ways to find information, communication, and entertainment. Along with doing these things I think setting a certain amount of screen time on my devices would benefit me greatly. By knowing I only have so much time to spend on my devices each day, would make the time on them much more important and valuable. I would have to complete the tasks and do my communication in a timely manner instead of just going on my phone all the time to do pointless things and check social media.
